The researcher of Quadrivium, Nadia Bureiko, was invited to participate in the speed geeking session during the international conference ‘In Between? Searching for Local Histories in Borderlands of Europe’ that took place on 2-3 December in Warsaw, Poland. The conference was organized within the project on in-between-ness coordinated by European Network Remembrance and Solidarity (ENRS) and was meant to provide researchers, cultural animators and artists dealing with the past with an opportunity to exchange experiences, share good practices and critically re-evaluate the projects undertaken within the field so far. The speed geeking session was particularly designed for those interested in the very specific character of projects related to the past and multiculturalism and for those who are simply seeking inspiration for their own projects.

Nadia Bureiko’s presentation was focused on the ongoing research projects which inquire whether the status of in-between-ness has generated a pattern of cross-cultural blending and mixed-identity feelings in Ukraine. In particular the following aspects were embraced: 1. theoretical debates employed in the study of Ukraine’s in-between position; 2. in-between- ness as the main stumbling block for Europeanisation process to unfold in Ukraine; 3. Ukrainians’ perceptions and identities influenced (or not) by in-between-ness.
