Quadrivium is kindly inviting you to attend the public lecture entitled “Bukovinian tolerance” – Understanding Local Narratives of Cultural Diversity in Chernivtsi”. The lecture (in Ukrainian) will be delivered by Niklas Bernsand, Coordinator for the Centre of European Studies at Lund University, Sweden. Admission is free.

Today the cultural diversity of old Chernivtsi often called “Bukovinian tolerance” can be considered by different actors both as a resource and a challenge for mainly Ukrainian and Russian speaking population of the city. Seeking to show multifaceted manifestations of local discourse based on scientific and practical research conducted in Chernivtsi, as well as materials on city branding, Niklas Bernsand will present his understanding of ” Bukovinian tolerance” with regard to the modern local memory in post-Soviet Chernivtsi and cultural diversity of the city before the WWII.
