Within the Lane Kirkland Program, Maria Protsiuk will spend 2018/2019 academic year at the University of Wroclaw where she will conduct her research project on the impact of non-state actors of public diplomacy on the Ukrainian-Polish relations with regards to the regional peculiarities.
In September 20-29, 2018, an integration meeting of 40 participants of the Lane Kirkland Scholarship Program (for an academic year) and 4 participants of Kirkland Research Program (for one semester) from Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan took place in Lublin, Poland. In addition to orientation-integration session, fellows also participated in the annual Congress of Eastern European Initiatives, visited local governments, met with key NGOs representatives, got acquainted with the history and cultural heritage of the Lublin Voivodeship in Poland. Afterwrds they began the academic year at the universities of Lublin, Warsaw, Poznan, Krakow and Wroclaw.
Lane Kirkland Scholarship Program is a comprehensive educational and scientific opportunity that involves studying in one of the above-mentioned universities, passing a professional internship at a selected institution / organization in Poland, as well as writing a scientific work in the chosen field. The program is addressed to young leaders from the Eastern Partnership and Central Asian countries who have already completed higher education and are interested in developing democracy, economics and civil society in their countries and regions. The scholarship was launched 19 years ago and is organized annually under the auspices of the ‘Leaders of changes’ Foundation and the Polish-American Freedom Foundation.
