On the 10th of January the main findings of ‘Bukovyna as a Contact Zone’ scientific research were discussed in Chernivtsi Regional State Administration. The project was presented by its coordinator, vice head of Quadrivium Nadiia Bureiko, and project researchers Serhii Bostan and Serhii Hakman.
In his opening speech Oleksandr Fyshchuk, head of Chernivtsi Regional State Administration, underlined a symbolic meaning of this presentation on the eve of the meeting of ministers of foreign affairs of Ukraine and Romania in Chernivtsi. The Ukrainian ambassador to Romania Alexander Bankov expressed his gratitude to the authors of the project since human dimension in a cross-border format, especially in Ukrainian-Romanian, is still needed for complete evaluation of cooperation between the two countries. Remarkably, that ‘Bukovyna as a Contact Zone’ focuses on public perceptions and attitudinal trends at the level of two communities – those who self-identify themselves as ethnic Romanians and are citizens of Ukraine and those who self-identify themselves as ethnic Ukrainians and are citizens of Romania.
In 2017 the analytical report with the main project findings as well as political recommendations were sent to the committees of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, departments of the Ministry of foreign affairs and Ministry of culture, diplomatic institutions and missions.
